Santorini
The priceless gem previously known as Thira, one of the most unique islands in the world. The fact that you can sit in front of the caldera, enjoy local cuisine and drinks while gazing at the remarkable beauty of an active volcano is a memory that shall never fade.
Santorini’s volcano is one of the few active volcanoes on Greek and European ground, while the islands that comprise Santorini came into existence as a result of intensive volcanic activity.
Akrotiri
The southwest end of Santorini, a virgin and historically important area hosting one of the most one important sites in the Aegean. It is the base of a prehistoric settlement that used to be a well-connected Minoan port town, with connections to mainland Greece, Egypt and Syria. As the island was covered in ash following a volcanic eruption, the preserved settlement is exceptional, making this one of the most significant archaeological sites in Greece.
To be honest, it might still be the most “virgin” ground of the island, protected from the town’s lights and noises, only approached by the most sophisticated travelers that wish to enjoy a different, impeccable view of Santorini.
Not far from Maison Marilia you may find mini markets and hidden gastronomical treasures in local taverns. Do not under any circumstances miss visiting the Lighthouse that stands still for ages on the tip of the island, leading the hundreds of ships arriving daily and keeping the privilege of all year captivating sunsets.
Feel free to reach out and ask us anything about the area, we promise to tell you as much as we can!
